OPTIMIZER PRIVACY POLICY

1. MEDIA AND STORAGE ACCESS

Optimizer accesses photos and videos after you grant the required Android permissions. Depending on your choices, access may be limited to selected media or include your media library. This access supports scanning, duplicate detection, compression, backup, deletion, and recovery.

When you select a backup location through Android’s system folder picker, you authorize access to that location. Optimizer may retain permission so it can access backups again without requiring you to select the folder each time. Available locations depend on your device and installed storage providers.

You can manage photo and video permissions in Android settings. Restricting access may limit the files Optimizer can display or process.

2. ON-DEVICE PROCESSING AND LOCAL RECORDS

Media scanning, duplicate detection, storage estimates, and compression take place on your device. Cognito Labs LLC does not receive your media for these operations.

Optimizer may store filenames, file types, sizes, dates, scan results, selections, processing progress, cached previews, backup status, and recovery information in app-private storage. It also stores information needed to manage your free allowance, completed operations, and previously verified Pro access.

Processing notifications may display progress or file-related information on your device. You can manage notification visibility, including lock-screen visibility, through Android settings.

3. OPTIONAL BACKUPS AND STORAGE PROVIDERS

When you choose backup, Optimizer writes original files and recovery information to a location you authorize through Android’s system folder picker. Not every provider supports every backup operation. Optimizer does not provide cloud storage capacity.

If you select a cloud-backed location, the provider receives the selected files and associated information and handles storage and synchronization under its own terms and privacy policy. Files may contain existing embedded metadata, such as capture dates or location information. Recovery information may include filenames, file types, sizes, backup dates, and information needed to identify and verify backups.

The provider handles its own account authentication. Optimizer does not ask you to provide your storage-provider password. Cognito Labs LLC does not operate a server that receives or stores your photos or videos through Optimizer’s backup feature.

4. GOOGLE PLAY PURCHASES AND SUBSCRIPTIONS

Optional Pro purchases are processed through Google Play. Google handles payment methods and processes account, transaction, and related information under its own policies, including the Google Privacy Policy.

Optimizer communicates with Google Play to display available plans, check purchase and subscription status, confirm purchases, restore access, and determine whether Pro features should be available. Information used for these purposes includes the purchased product, purchase identifiers, and purchase or subscription status. Optimizer stores limited subscription-access information locally to support continued use between verification checks.

Optimizer does not receive your full payment-card number, card security code, or Google Account password. Cognito Labs LLC may access transaction and financial information Google makes available to developers for order management, refunds, support, and accounting. Google retains its own purchase records under its policies and applicable requirements.

5. HOW INFORMATION IS USED

We use the information described above to provide requested app features, manage free and paid access, verify purchases, respond to support requests, investigate problems, and meet applicable legal obligations.

Optimizer does not sell your media or use it for advertising, profiling, or analytics. The app does not include advertising or analytics features operated by Cognito Labs LLC. Google Play, your chosen storage providers, and our email provider process information as described in this policy and their own policies.

6. SECURITY

Optimizer uses Android’s permission controls and app-private storage to help protect access to media and local records. Google Play and your chosen storage providers manage security for their respective payment, account, transmission, and storage services.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. Keep your device protected and updated, review your permissions, and avoid selecting storage locations you do not trust. Do not send passwords, verification codes, payment-card details, or private media in support requests.

7. RETENTION, DELETION, AND ACCESS CONTROLS

Optimizer retains local information as needed to support its features. Some temporary information may be removed during normal operation. Clearing app data or uninstalling removes app-private records, including local allowance and subscription-access records, recovery information, and any app-private recovery archives. These actions also remove the saved connection to your selected backup location.

Before clearing data or uninstalling, restore any files you need and verify independent backups. These actions do not themselves delete original, optimized, or restored media in your shared phone gallery, or backups and recovery information saved in a separately selected provider folder.

Backups remain in the selected location until you delete them or the provider removes them under its policies. Use the provider’s app or a file manager to manage them. Deleting backups or recovery information may prevent restoration. Providers may retain deleted files in trash, version history, or backups.

Clearing data or uninstalling does not cancel a Google Play subscription or delete Google’s transaction records. Manage subscriptions through Google Play and direct requests about Google-held information to Google. If you used an older Optimizer version with a direct Google Account connection, you can also review that older authorization in your Google Account settings.

8. SUPPORT COMMUNICATIONS

When you contact us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to provide, including messages and attachments. This may include your device model, Android version, app version, error messages, or purchase-related details. We use it to respond, troubleshoot, and investigate reported issues. Our email provider processes communications to deliver and store them.

Cognito Labs LLC retains support emails for 12 months after the request is resolved and attachments for 30 days after resolution. We then delete the applicable information from active support records, subject to lawful retention requirements and limitations in our email provider’s backup systems.

Please describe problems without attaching private photos, videos, credentials, or other unnecessary sensitive information. Hide personal information in screenshots.

9. PERMANENT ACTIONS

Deleting media without a backup can make it unavailable for recovery through Optimizer. Replacing originals with compressed copies without a backup prevents Optimizer from restoring their original quality.

Review selected files, backup status, destinations, and warnings before confirming compression or deletion. Recovery depends on the required backup remaining available and accessible.

10. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

Optimizer is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed toward children under 13. Cognito Labs LLC does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the app or support communications. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

11. PRIVACY QUESTIONS AND REQUESTS

Contact [email protected] with privacy questions or requests concerning information Cognito Labs LLC holds about you. Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, restrict or object to certain processing, or complain to a relevant privacy authority.

We may reasonably verify your identity without requesting your password. For deletion requests, we will respond within one calendar month and delete applicable records, subject to lawful exceptions. We will explain any applicable retention requirement, permitted extension, or email-provider backup limitation.

Cognito Labs LLC cannot remotely delete media or local app records from your phone, or files from your personal storage accounts. Use the relevant device or provider controls. Requests concerning information independently held by Google or another provider may need to be directed to that provider.

12. POLICY UPDATES

We may update this policy when Optimizer or its information-handling practices change. The effective date identifies the latest revision. We will provide additional notice or obtain consent where required by applicable law.
