OPTIMIZER TERMS OF SERVICE

1. ACCEPTANCE

By downloading, accessing, or using Optimizer, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under applicable consumer protection laws.

2. THE SERVICE AND FREE TIER

Optimizer provides on-device tools for scanning photos and videos, identifying exact duplicates, estimating storage usage, compressing media, and managing backup, deletion, and recovery. A subscription is not required to use the free features.

Free compression includes 1 GB per calendar month, with up to 20 photos or 2 videos manually selected per job. Both limits apply. Usage counts the original file size after successful compression and replacement. Failed, skipped, or canceled files do not count.

The free allowance resets on the first day of each month at 00:00 UTC. Unused allowance does not roll over, and the allowance does not synchronize across devices. Scanning, deletion, and recovery remain free.

3. OPTIONAL PRO SUBSCRIPTIONS

Optimizer Pro provides unlimited compression allowance and automatic batch selection, subject to a 1,000-file safety limit per job and practical device and storage limitations. Pro does not include cloud storage or guarantee particular savings, processing speeds, or lossless compression.

Monthly and yearly auto-renewing subscriptions are offered through Google Play where available. Current United States base prices are $2.99 per month and $19.99 per year. The yearly plan is billed as one annual payment, not monthly installments. Prices, currency, applicable taxes, and availability may vary by region. Review the final price and terms displayed by Google Play before confirming a purchase.

Payment is processed through your Google Play account. Subscriptions renew automatically at the applicable price and billing interval unless canceled before renewal. Any trial or introductory offer applies only when explicitly displayed in your purchase offer. Price changes are subject to Google Play’s applicable notification and consent processes and applicable law.

You can manage or cancel a subscription through Optimizer’s “Manage or cancel subscription” option or through Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. You can also visit Google Play’s subscription management page. Uninstalling Optimizer or clearing its data does not cancel a subscription.

Canceling normally stops future renewals while allowing access for the remainder of the paid period. Cancellation does not automatically refund the current period. Refunds and any associated changes to access are governed by applicable law and Google Play’s refund policies.

A pending or declined payment does not activate Pro. Failed renewals may enter a grace period, during which access continues, followed by an account hold that suspends access. Expiration, refunds, chargebacks, or revocation may also end access, subject to Google Play’s subscription status.

Use “Restore purchases” with the Google Play account that owns the subscription to refresh access. No separate Optimizer account is required. Previously verified Pro access may remain available offline for up to 72 hours after the last successful online verification. Reconnection is required to verify continued access. Restoring a subscription does not restore deleted media or app-private recovery records.

4. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERMANENT ACTIONS

Review selected files, backup destinations, storage estimates, warnings, and Android confirmation dialogs before approving an operation. Compression may reduce quality or alter media characteristics, and savings vary by file.

Compression and deletion can be irreversible. When originals are replaced without a backup, Optimizer cannot restore their original quality. Files deleted without a backup may be permanently unavailable through Optimizer. Keep an independent backup of important media.

Recovery requires an available, readable backup and sufficient storage. Clearing app data or uninstalling Optimizer removes app-private records and any app-private recovery archives. It does not itself delete shared-gallery media or backups saved in your selected provider folder.

5. BACKUP LOCATIONS AND THIRD-PARTY PROVIDERS

Optional backup uses a location you select through Android’s system folder picker. Available locations and supported operations depend on your device and installed document providers. Optimizer may retain permission to access your selected folder for later backup and recovery.

If you choose a cloud-backed location, that provider handles account authentication, network transfer, synchronization, storage capacity, and availability under its own terms and privacy policy. Optimizer does not provide cloud storage, and Cognito Labs LLC does not operate a server that receives your media through this feature.

You are responsible for maintaining access to the selected location and sufficient storage. A successful write to a provider does not necessarily mean its remote cloud synchronization has completed. Removing permissions, deleting backups, changing folders, or losing provider access may prevent recovery.

6. ACCEPTABLE USE AND PRIVACY

Use Optimizer only for lawful purposes and with media and storage locations you own or are authorized to access. Do not misuse the service, interfere with its operation, or attempt unauthorized access.

Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled. Optimizer is intended for users aged 13 and older. Users who cannot independently agree to these Terms under applicable law must have appropriate parent or guardian permission.

7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Optimizer’s original interface, branding, code, and related materials are owned by Cognito Labs LLC or its licensors. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app under these Terms. Third-party and open-source components remain subject to their respective licenses. You retain your rights in your own media.

8. WARRANTY DISCLAIMER

To the extent permitted by law, Optimizer is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, or error-free operation. No particular compression result or recovery outcome is guaranteed. These exclusions do not apply where prohibited by law.

9. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the extent permitted by law, Cognito Labs LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of media, data, profits, or goodwill arising from use of Optimizer. To the extent permitted by law, total liability for claims arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid for Optimizer during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

10. CHANGES

We may update the app and these Terms. Material changes will be communicated as required by applicable law, and the effective date will identify the latest revision. Changes affecting paid subscriptions are subject to Google Play’s applicable processes and your statutory rights. Changes will not remove rights that cannot legally be waived.
